Speech-Language Pathology since 1971
Since 1981 I have maintained a private practice specializing in
neurological disorders (strokes, traumatic brain injuries, cerebral
palsy, etc.) in adults and children, stuttering, voice disorders,
attention deficit and auditory processing disorders, and cleft
palate. I receive many referrals from former clients, various
physicians, and the Stuttering Foundation of America. For many
clients I travel to them and work in the comfort of their home.
You can find me in the Stockton Yellow Pages under Speech & Language
Pathologists or look at my website:

My purposes for maintaining a private practice are that I very much enjoy working directly with clients and patients and being a part of their improvement in communication and rehabilitation. The on-going clinical work also helps me maintain and increase my own therapy skills. By being a therapist and seeing clients every week, my university teaching is much more “real” and less theoretical, which my students very much appreciate.
My summer work in acute, subacute, and convalescent hospitals and rehabilitation centers is very enjoyable and challenging. I am able to see patients with CVAs, TBIs and other neurological disorders. I also get to work directly with physicians and nurses, and do co-treatments with physical and occupational therapists.
My current writing is The Complete Dictionary and Resource for Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (Delmar Learning, available in 2011), and Neuroscience for Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (Delmar Learning, available 2013).
